COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Visual Arts programme at Ahantaman Girls’ Senior High School is a vibrant and skill-driven course designed to nurture creativity, artistic expression, and critical thinking in students. Combining practical studio work with theoretical knowledge, the course exposes students to a wide range of art forms and techniques. Core areas of focus include Graphics, Ceramics/Jewelry, General Knowledge in Art (GKA), and Information and Communication Technology (ICT). The programme aims to inspire innovation while equipping students with marketable skills relevant to both academic progression and creative careers.
Key Learning Areas:
- Graphics:
Students are introduced to the fundamentals of graphic design, including composition, typography, and visual storytelling. Using both traditional techniques and digital design tools, students learn how to create compelling visual content for various platforms, with emphasis on color theory, layout design, and branding. - Ceramics/Jewelry:
This hands-on area provides practical experience in the creation of ceramic and jewelry pieces. Students explore shaping, glazing, and firing techniques in ceramics, as well as basic metalworking and design principles in jewelry-making. These activities foster craftsmanship, attention to detail, and artistic innovation. - General Knowledge in Art (GKA):
GKA deepens students’ understanding of the historical, cultural, and theoretical aspects of art. Students study the works of influential artists, art movements, and various techniques across time periods. This foundation enhances their ability to analyze, interpret, and contextualize visual works. - Information and Communication Technology (ICT):
ICT empowers students to integrate digital technology into their artistic practice. Students learn to use software for graphic design, digital illustration, and animation, gaining valuable skills in contemporary visual communication and expanding their creative toolkit.
The Visual Arts programme encourages students to discover their unique artistic voices while preparing them for further education and careers in creative industries such as design, illustration, fashion, multimedia, and art education.

COURSE OBJECTIVES
