Ahantaman Girls’ Senior High School is a distinguished all-girls secondary institution located in Sekondi, in the Western Region of Ghana. Established in 1948 by visionary educationist Mr. Emmanuel Kwasi Idun, the school began with just five students as a private commercial academy known as Takoradi Commercial Academy. Over the decades, it has evolved into a leading institution focused on academic excellence and the holistic development of young women.

Originally known as Royal Commercial College (ROCCO) and later Royal Commercial Secondary School (ROCSEC), the school became a government-assisted institution in 1965 under the Ghana Education Service (GES). In 1980, it was renamed Ahantaman Secondary School in honor of the traditional Ahanta area where it is situated.

In 2010, the school transitioned from a co-educational model to an all-girls institution, now known as Ahantaman Girls’ Senior High School. This change was part of a broader effort by the GES to expand educational access for girls within the region and support gender equity in education.

Today, Ahantaman Girls’ SHS is a thriving academic community that prepares girls aged 15 to 18 for leadership, service, and success in various fields. With a large campus, strong academic programs, and dedicated staff, we remain committed to nurturing the potential of every student.

Our motto, "The End Crowns the Work," reflects our belief in perseverance, hard work, and achievement. We proudly wear our school colors—black, white, and navy blue—as symbols of strength, purity, and creativity.
