The Chemistry Laboratory at Ahantaman Girls’ Senior High School serves as a critical learning space where theory meets practice. It is a modern, well-equipped facility that supports the school’s Science Department in delivering high-quality science education.

Hands-On Science Learning

In the lab, students explore chemical concepts through experiments and real-life applications. Practical sessions are aligned with the Ghana Education Service (GES) curriculum and are designed to reinforce topics such as:

  • Atomic structure and bonding

  • Acids, bases, and salts

  • Organic chemistry

  • Chemical reactions and equations

  • Qualitative and quantitative analysis

Laboratory Facilities

The lab is furnished with:

  • Standard glassware and equipment (test tubes, burettes, pipettes, beakers, etc.)

  • Reagents and chemicals for all practical sessions

  • Safety equipment including goggles, gloves, and first aid kits

  • Fume chambers for controlled reactions

  • Demonstration benches for teacher-led experiments

Safety and Supervision

Safety is a top priority. Students are trained on lab safety rules, proper handling of chemicals, and emergency procedures. All practicals are supervised by experienced science teachers and lab assistants.

Skill Development

The Chemistry Lab fosters:

  • Critical thinking and analytical skills

  • Scientific reporting and observation

  • Collaboration and teamwork

  • A deeper interest in scientific research and innovation

Inspiring Future Scientists

Through hands-on learning and experimentation, the Chemistry Lab inspires many students to pursue careers in fields such as:

  • Medicine and Pharmacy

  • Chemical Engineering

  • Biochemistry

  • Environmental Science

  • Teaching and Scientific Research
